A bit more about us...
Grounded was set up by Josh Clarke, a garden designer based in Norwich.
Before moving into garden design, Josh worked as a creative strategy director within the world of digital publishing — shaping ideas and seeing them through to delivery. That same approach now applies to gardens: clear thinking, properly executed.
Qualifications include a distinction in the Postgraduate Diploma in Garden Design at the British Academy of Garden Design, alongside formal RHS horticultural training.
Grounded focuses on making gardens work properly. Each project starts with the whole space — not isolated elements — bringing structure, planting and materials into something coherent and buildable.
The aim is simple: a garden that holds together, functions well, and won’t need revisiting later.

How we work
Projects begin with a site visit to understand the space, its users and what is needed from the garden.
From there, we develop a clear layout and design approach, refining it into a scheme that can be built with confidence.
Where needed, Grounded stays involved through the build to make sure the design is carried through to completion.
