Show garden @ the Royal Norfolk Show 2026 (awarded silver medal)

Designed for the Royal Norfolk Show, Between Extremes explores how a small domestic garden can respond to increasingly extreme weather conditions. A gentle gradient guides both visitors and water through the space, creating a transition from drought-tolerant gravel planting to a lush rain garden below. Contrasting planting styles and material choices reflect these differing conditions, while simple drainage principles are used to slow and retain rainfall within the landscape. The result is a modest, practical garden that demonstrates how resilient design strategies can be incorporated into everyday plots.

Characterful border redesign (NR4)

A redesign of the prominent border within the garden, with the clienbt wishing to introduce greater character, structure and seasonal interest. The existing planting lacked visual impact, prompting a complete reworking of the space. Ornamental grasses, architectural foliage and long-flowering perennials combine to create a more dynamic and textural composition, while evergreen structure provides year-round presence. A vintage enamel sign giving a nice nod to local Norwich heritage creates a distinctive focal point and sense of identity.

Woodland front garden (NR1)

A front garden full of challenges; shaded, sloped and beneath the canopy of a mature magnolia. Turf had failed across the plot, leaving an uninspiring patch of bare earth. The new design makes use of a layered tapestry of shade-tolerant perennials, ferns and evergreen structure to create a woodland-inspired garden that embraces the site's natural conditions, provides year-round interest and fits perfectly within the surrounding area.
